We are excited to welcome our new intern Rachel Usher. Rachel is a recent Magna Cum Laude with High Honors graduate from UGA with a B.S. in Ecology. Rachel is hoping to pursue a career in Public Health. Rachel will participate in two projects:
1. The Rotary International District 6920 (Saving Lives with Medicines). Program. Phalarope is the senior advisor to the Distric Governor DG Hamsa Thota
2. Ixchel- A Maternal and Child Health Community Surveillance System to decrease maternal Mortality in Guatemala, a Rotary International proposal

Phalarope announces its partnership with
Fundacion para el Desarrollo Integral at the Aq'on"Jay Health Center in
Chimaltenango , Guatemala. The two organizations will work on projects
to help reduce Maternal and Infant mortality among women and children
living in Rural Guatemala. The goal of the Ixchel program is to
establish a Maternal and Child Health Community Surveillance
(MCHCCS) system to expand services and create a continuum care between a
health center and members of remote rural communities. This system will
be create teams of health promoters and traditional to midwives.
We are excited to announce the formal agreement of collaboration between
CANI Asociación Casa del Niño en Jocotenango Antigua Guatemala and Phalarope. Phalarope will help CANI develop tprograms in primary care, mental health, nutrition and health education.

The intervention proposed is to improve Math and Science learning among children in 3rd to 6th grade by improving teacher's skills , curriculum and use of cost-effective teaching strategies in schools in remote areas of Uganda. Phalarope is partnering with a local NGO called Kamwenge District Indigenous Development Organizations Network (KADIVDO Network). KADIVIDO network (Kamwenge District Indigenous Voluntary Development Organizations), which is an umbrella of indigenous NGO’s, CBO’s and FBO’s based in Kamwenge district of Uganda.
Phalarope will be member of the task force formed by Rotary District Governor Hamsa Thota, District 6920. Phalarope will act as Senior Technical Advisor to the Savings Lives with Medicine for the state of Georgia. The project is an initiative of MAP International to bring free medications to the uninsured and underserved in Georgia. Phalarope will collaborate in helping plan , implement and evaluate the program. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of your team.
