John Wiseman, MS - CHAIRMAN

John Wiseman is a retired soil scientist currently living in Panamá. After completing his bachelor's degree in Botany, he worked in the mountains of Nepal as an assistant agronomist in the Peace Corps. In this position, he introduced higher-yielding varieties of rice, wheat, and corn to rain-fed, terraced farms. He then returned to the U.S. and completed a master's degree in soil microbiology. With this knowledge, he implemented a wood ash recycling program in New Hampshire, where he helped develop environmental guidelines and application rates for using the material as a lime substitute.

For the following 16 years, he worked as an environmental consultant in the field of hazardous waste investigation and remediation. Since his retirement, he has introduced gardening to two schools in an effort to improve the children's diet. He is currently experimenting with various hydroponic methods in a 3,500 sq ft greenhouse that he manages.
